12 Contact Hours (6 per day)

For nurses who reside in the state of California: RTConnections is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 16133. The California Board of Registered Nursing requires that this certificate must be retained by the licensee for a period of 5 years after the course ends.

For nurses who reside in the state of Florida: RTConnections is a provider approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, CE provider number 50-14843. The Florida Board of Nursing requires that this certificate must be retained by the licensee for a period of 4 years after the course ends.

Renee Thompson, DNP, RN, CMSRN

Medical Surgical - RTConnectionsDr. Renee Thompson is an adult clinical practice and professional development expert. After more than 25 years as a clinical nurse, nurse educator and nurse executive, Renee has become one of our country’s leading authorities on nursing professional development, clinical competence and nursing culture. She is well known for her entertaining speaking style and ability to help nurses successfully pass the medsurg and critical care certification exams. To stay connected with nurses, Renee continues to practice as a bedside nurse.

Detective A. Thompson, CICA

Medical Surgical - RTConnectionsDetective Ashley Thompson has been a Law Enforcement Officer for more than 30 years with a concentration on intelligence and crime prevention. He is a Certified Crime Prevention Specialist, a Criminal Intelligence Certified Analyst, and a Certified Gang Professional. Ashley has taught numerous training sessions to community groups, including healthcare professionals in areas such as personal safety, safety in the workplace, violence prevention and recognizing and dealing with aggression in the healthcare setting. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree in Homeland Security from California University of Pennsylvania. Ashley is a retired U.S. Army Military Police Officer with 22 years of service.

Joanne Turka, MSN, RN-BC, CCRN

Medical Surgical - RTConnectionsJoanne has 25 years of experience working in cardio thoracic, medical surgical and neuro ICU’s. She developed and coordinates the Critical Care Course for a large multi-hospital medical system. She supports critical care nurses in the clinical setting and teaches the Critical Care and Medical Surgical Certification courses both locally and nationally. Joanne is a certified critical care nurse and certified nurse educator.  Joanne is a frequently invited guest at National Nursing Conferences including NTI and the AMSN Convention.
